The Pioneer ELITE VSX-33 is a THX receiver and it has many surround sound options more, this unit sounds very clean no hissing noise. The GUI interface on setting up the system is cleaner and better than most receiver, and also TIVO thru RCN so it can do 1080p. Another big advantage is the Video upconversion which is better, the options are good.
Build quality is better especially on the front face of the receiver, it is made of aluminum. It’s heavier that means the heat sink for the amp is better for cooling and power control, amber glow, more power, better remote control, more inputs, etc. But more importantly the ability to expand – You can assign the this receiver is future proof, it has an additional HDMI out if you want to add a projector. This is a amazing deal to get the advanced receiver.

This unit provides good sound, there are many different presets Surround options. Need a little time to study the manual for this unit so you can get a more intuitive performance. Large number of surround sound options, and more power than most users will ever need. You will really fall in love this receiver, however, for you who want to have a good receiver and probably looking for a replacement of your old receiver.
Elite receivers have regularly represented a pinnacle joining to a work combines technology and video processing and video quality. The sound of the Elite VSX-33 is everything that you would expect from Pioneer. Clean, crisp, highs and wonderfully full Bass. Explosions and Bass lines were executed beatifully without clipping or any sound struggle. All in all, an excellent reciever.

Great Receiver/Very Easy Set-up, By Telecommiter
This is a great product, and set-up is easy if you are only little bit technical. The sound and picture (HDMI passes through the receiver) are great.The other cool features are tons of HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs. Also, you can feed anything in, S-Video, Composite or Component and it will upconvert and push it out to the TV. That really cut down on the mess of cables.
The receiver detects which component is running and automatically turns on. This is a great receiver and you will not be disappointed.
Love this device. Before it, I owned the Pioneer 9040-TXH, which was also an excellent device, but lacked 3D capability, and wasn’t as aesthetically pleasing. I also love the fact this receiver has dual HDMI outputs, which is going to allow me to use one receiver to server separate floors of my house.
I love my new Pioneer VSX 33, it sounds amazing with so much clarity. I use this receiver with Velodyne CHT-12Q subwoofer and Definitive Pro Monitor 1000 speakers. Movies sound perfect, I feel explosions real as it happens in the house. Setup is relatively easy , has auto maccd setup which does auto calibre by itself. It has upscale capability with different resolutions such as 1080p,1080i…However I could not difference for the image quality using either pure video and upscale option. I have connected mac mini, playing movies and music from there. Its excellent receiver with its affordable price.
I Have Elite Receivers going way back, including a Top of the Line unit costing Over $5K (2005 era). I can tell you that this VSX 33 though not on Par with the top of the line, is at least in that League, yet with less power. VSX 33 has great Audio quality and enough punch to use in most mid level speaker systems. VSX 32 or 33 for under $1K don’t hesitate , and a VSX 33 for under $600 – Jump on it, plug & play, enjoy.
